We had this weird symbolism at the end of Dodger and Bet becoming the new Sykes and Nancy...meh, it was retarded.

Indeed, considering that Dodger gets shipped off to Australia and that's the last we hear of him.

No, he's not. He's a somewhat bigger part. If you consider that his only vocal solo is practically the intro into Consider Yourself and Bet has a good amount of singing in "It's a Fine Life", the only thing making Dodger a better part is his small amount of lines.

He's certainly not a bigger part than Bumble, Corney, or Brownlow, who in Salome's very well ordered curtain call bow after him.

He sings quite a lot of consider yourself, and half of i'd do anything. Bet only really has a handfull of lines in fine life and i'd do anything. Plus she has no speaking at all. Just my opinion, but i'd say Dodger was for more important, both in part size and to the story, than Bet. I dont argue that he's a smaller part than the others though.

Dodger's part is eassentially over wehen he delivers oliver to fagin. Dodger only has about 6 lines in all of act II.

It's usually accepted that Bet's a minor role, and while Dodger is a bit larger, he's often over-exaggerated as far as prevalence in the show. My curtain call is the OP. He got the third-to-last bow, only Nancy and Oliver bowed after...which made no sense. Brownlow, Sykes, Fagin, Bumble, and Corney are all much larger parts than Dodger.

Small part or not, Dodger resonates with the audience more than Bumble, Corney or Brownlow. It's splitting hairs really, and all depends on what one wants to achieve with one's curtain call.

Explain how Dodgers resonates with an audience more than Bumble. He might be more famous, sure, but I wouldn't say he resonates more.

In our production the curtain calls went like this:

Orphans and Fagin's gang
Ensemble
Brownlow and Miss Bedwin
Mr and Mrs Sowerberry,
Who Will Buy soloists
Mr Bumble and Mrs Corney
Bet
Bill Sykes
Nancy
(And then Fagin and Dodger emerged from two doors and stood up front. And then Oliver came and stood in the middle)

Explain how he does not. The very fact that people think the role of Dodger is larger than it actually is, is proof that the role does resonate with audience more than the role of Bumble.

Ours goes like this, I think:

Adult Ensemble
Who Will Buy Soloists
Boys
Girls
The Sowerberrys
Bumble and Corney
Mrs. Bedwin, Dr. Grimwig, Mr. Brownlow
Bet, Sykes, Nancy
Dodger
Fagin
Oliver

Post Re: Oliver! Curtain Call
FWIW, curtain call in my daughter's production was:

Fagin's Gang
Adult Ensemble males (including Dr. Grimwig)
Adult Ensemble females (including Old Sally)
Charlotte/Noah
Bet
Mr. Brownlow/Mrs.Bedwin
Mr. and Mrs. Sowerberry
Mr. Bumble/Mrs. Corney
Sykes and Dodger
Fagin
Nancy and Oliver

I personally thought Fagin should be after Nancy, but Nancy and Oliver sing "I'll Do Anything" to each other during the curtain call, so maybe that was why.
