 Re: London Cast 2011/2012
I was trying to hold off getting excited because this was just a rumour, but since you say it's been reliably confirmed...If this is true, then I am so pleased with the new cast! Emma Williams is a perfect choice for Fantine, she was amazing in Love Story and I was hoping she'd win the Olivier Award.

Heh. The news of Alexia Khadime were quite reliably confirmed, I don't know about Emma Williams, but I'm assuming this is true. And I certainly hope it is! Her voice is ridiculously beautiful and immensely likeable and I would love to see her on stage in a role that I value so much and truly care about. It had actually crossed my mind a couple of weeks ago, but I wasn't sure about it, especially about her lower range. But yes, she absolutely made Love Story for me.

 Re: London Cast 2011/2012
Oh...I mean I like Alexia Khadime but I was no where near as excited for her joining the cast as I was for Emma Williams. I hadn't considered her for the role before but now the thought is in my head I can't think of another new Fantine I'd rather see. Damn. The earlier false rumour about Julie Atherton as Fantine was bad enough. I was going to say that I was more excited about this new cast than I had been since 2008...

In his fifth year with the show, George Miller will be a swing. I'm so excited for him, I don't even know what to say! It's amazing and so comforting to think that at least three of those that I saw the very first time I watched Les Mis in London (early June 2009) are still going to be there after cast change (George, Helen, Jonathan).

That is, of course, extremely heartening and pleasant to know, but I do wish George would do something else and try something different. He's got a nice voice and lovely acting skills, and being in Les Mis for 5 years swinging/in the ensemble seems quite wasted for someone like him.

 Re: London Cast 2011/2012
While I agree with that to some extent, I think he's pretty psyched to be a swing next year and is really looking forward to this - after all it's something completely different. And looking at other ensembles in the West End, I'd say the Les Mis one is easily one of the most rewarding (compared to, say, Phantom or Wizard of Oz or Love Never Dies or We Will Rock You). That's something I've always liked about the show.

I'd have to agree with that- in Les Mis the swings don't just take over "Ensemble/ Town Folk 4" when an actor is sick. Well if he likes it, then...

 Re: London Cast 2011/2012
I was a bit disappointed that Emma did not [or was not asked to] sing the pasta "cooking/fighting" duet from Love Story and that she lose the battle for the Olivier best actress [to be fair to Sheridan, though, I haven't seen LB].
But she appears to have won the war for playing Fantine, which sounds very nice to me.

Very happy for Emma Williams. I can definitely picture her as fantine. She seems like the sort of actress who'll really get her teeth into the role.

 Re: London Cast 2011/2012
I love how this year's cast is like that one-off season of America's Next Top Model where Tyra Banks graciously only allowed girls under 5'7" to compete...
