"Les Mis: Stage vs. Screen" (+ postcript: no more tour)
I wrote this Brick-sized essay half a year ago, right after the movie was released. All this time I've been embarrassed to share it here, because my knowledge of the show can't compare with certain other people's. But finally I realized it was dumb not to share it with other Les Mis
fans.http://www.paminasopera.com/les-miserab ... ce-part-i/http://www.paminasopera.com/les-miserab ... e-part-ii/http://www.paminasopera.com/les-miserab ... -part-iii/http://www.paminasopera.com/les-miserab ... e-part-iv/
The blog is mine, by the way. (Obviously.
) I used to try to keep my opera fangirling and musical fangirling separate: here I was "Vanessa" (which isn't even my real name; it's the name I always wanted when I was little), on my blog and Twitter I was "Pamina," and never the twain did meet. I didn't think the two communities were compatible. But then I decided, why not just be my complete self and include my Les Mis
writing on the blog? It's close to being an opera anyway!
PS. Why has no one here announced yet that the US tour has closed?
Am I the first one to know, or is everyone else indifferent? I just went online to look up the schedule and found that it played its last performance six days ago at the Smith Center in Las Vegas! I have to say, I'm disappointed... I was hoping to see the new Fantine, Marius and Éponine, not to mention Peter's Valjean again... though I know a certain someone here who will probably think "Good riddance!"
Oh well, time to wait patiently for Toronto and Broadway, and hope they include the staging improvements that were made in Japan and Korea!
