 Turbonegro vocalist as Jesus
Here you can see Turbonegro vocalist Hank von Helvete as Jesus: http://www.aftenposten.no/video/article3222928.ece
It's mainly an interview in Norwegian, but you kinda get an impression.

Well... his voice is far away from everything I've heard from Jesus in Superstar. I've never heard this kind of Jesus, but it can be... interesting..

Well, I must admit I've never seen Jesus played by a fat biker-lookin' guy with bling, so that's different. As for the voice...

He is really nice though, he is a sweet person! I've worked with many of the cast members before, and the production is going to be futuristic and stylistic, so many things will be changed. They are actually having a female Caiaphas, and not because they don't have enough men, but because they wanted to make the musical set today, and therefore let more women in it.

It seems like a really good production. I love the good old JCS version (Original Broadway, etc..), but I also like when they take the show and set it in a totally different place/era.

^^ Hehe, yeah, let's nix the only actual Bass in the show.
(In fairness, it is such a dude's show. But then again, they're mostly tenors or baritones singing high).

How? It would end up very awkward transposing. Wouldn't Annas make more sense?

I just double checked my information after what I read above, and I was wrong. I'm sorry, but I always mix the priests, it is the tenor priest, Annas, who is going to be played by a woman.

I must admit that doesn't look too bad...
Maybe a Norwegian director finally has trusted the material he chose to work with?
