 "Our Little World"
How often do productions use "Our Little World" when performing ITW? I'm auditioning for ITW in a month and I'm going for either Little Red or Rapunzel (I'm singing a transposed version of "Green Finch and Linnett Bird", so it's lowerish), and I'm really hoping they use this song in the show. So, have you seen pro productions that have used "Our Little World"?

It's all up to the director. Personally I think it adds a lot to those two characters. You get to see their relationship as mother/daughter. It was in the production I was involved in. But, like I said, it's all up to the director. A college production in my home town did not add it in because the director hated it. He said it was a boring song that added nothing to the production except time.

My production used it because it adds more to thier characters and we had a lovely Rapunzel with a beautiful voice who deserved a better part but got stuck as Rapunzel and the directors put in it for her.
I do agree that it can get long and boring though...perhaps a shorter version?

Hmm...I'm just trying to decide something for my audition. Because, if the director plans on keeping "Our Little World", then I would sing the original version of "Green Finch and Linnet Bird" for my audition and go full throttle for Rapunzel. If not, though, I'll sing the lower, transposed version, to broaden my horizons and perhaps get called back for Little Red. I just can't decide! I love "Our Little World", I truly hope they keep it in, but there's no way to know.

I'm in Into the Woods right now and that song gets really tiring after hearing it once or twice.
Every other word is "hair". Lol

 Our Little World
MusicalGal,
If you're going to audition, definitely go for the original version. And make sure you can clear a high B.
It's sadly one of those songs that is technically difficult to execute, but still has to sound completely effortless.
Good luck!

At what point in the show does this song occur? In other words, what song precedes or supercedes it?

It's supposed to happen right after "Maybe They're Magic." Honestly, I think it should happen if the Rapunzel is good enough, as this is one of the big opportunities for Rapunzel to sing. And, as mentioned before, it does give good insight to their relationship.

I like it.
It is a nice song and it really sets up the whole Witch/Rapunzel relationship. Without it, you lose a lot of the mother/daughter vibe, which is a big part of both of those characters.

 Re: "Our Little World"
In the production I was in and another production I've seen- they kept it in. In the version I was in, however, we only had Rapunzel.....It worked out quite nicely!

 Re: "Our Little World"
We used it. It almost got cut in the last week because our Rapunzel wasn't pulling her weight and was sucking the life out of our production.
Basically, the director said you need to pull it together or I'm cutting your song (the only place she put forth real effort). Needless to say, she pulled it together.
