 Info on the show
My community theater is doing Guys and Dolls this summer and i was wondering what the show was about. Basic Plot, characters, ranges, ages, anything would be helpful! Thanks!

Okay, so there's this guy named Nathan Detroit and he's the promoter for a crap game. There are a bunch of prestigious gamblers in town and he realizes that this is a chance for him to make a lot of money. Unfortunately, "The heat is on", so he's having trouble coming up with a place to hold his crap game. There's only one place he deems worthy, but he has to come up with 1000 dollars to get it. Enter Sky Masterson, a gambler with a reputation for crazy bets. Nathan bets Sky 1000 dollars that he can't take an uptight Mission Doll named Sarah Brown to Havana, Cuba with him for dinner. He eventually gets him to go with her by promising to provide sinners for her empty mission that is going to be closed down if she doesn't show that it is making a difference. Nathan has a fiancee (who he's been engaged to for 14 years) named Adelaide who is the head act at a local night club called the Hot Box. She hates the fact that he runs a crap game, though she now believes him to have gone straight. Nathan also has two, I guess assistants, named Benny Southstreet and Nicely Nicely Johnson, who are almost everywhere Nathan is (except when he's with Adelaide.) There are also assorted other gamblers, Hot Box girls, and a mission band including Sarah's grandfather Arvide.
*gasps for breath*

See if you can get ahold of the old version with Marlon Brando as Sky. Its pretty faithful to the plot of the musical, although a lot of the dialogue is different. It should give you a good idea of what the show is.
