Do you have an interesting Quote
I work at the Palace theatre, Manchester, England, and i have been commissioned to paint quotes from musicals on the walls, most musicals have visited this theatre but i am looking for some interesting if slightly less obvious quotes, can anyone help me?
Thanks for your time[/quote]

How about the Yiddish phrase 'So nu?' It means roughly 'so what else?' In context, Nathan Detroit uses it when Adelaide threatens to leave him in 'Sue Me'. At least it wouldn't take long to do! <g>

If you want something specific to the plot of the show without being too obscure, I would suggest one of the lines from the title song "Guys & Dolls". Something like "If you see a guy reach for stars in the sky, you can bet that he's doin' it for some doll!"
If you'd rather play on the popularity of the soundtrack instead, you could go for a line from "Luck be a Lady". Perhaps "They call you lady luck, but there is room for doubt..." or "Luck, let a gentleman see how nice a dame you can be"
Then again... you could go with an actualy line from the show rather than a song lyric, there are plenty of gems. I'll listen a little closer at rehearsal tonight and let you know if I hear anything that jumps out at me.

"Just think after 14 years I'm finally gonn become Mrs. Nathan Detroit...Time certainly does fly"
Or
"You got a boyfriend named Isiah huh?"
Both are real audience crackers!

This one's from the film version, but it's still a good quote: "Daddy, I've got cider in my ear!"

-I'll Know, guys and dolls
"I thought my heart was safe, I thought I knew the score"
-I've never been in love before, guys and dolls
"Pal, if I were a salad I know i'd be splashin' my dressing"
-If I were a bell, guys and dolls

"I got the horse right here..."
"I remember where the spots formerly were." (I just saw that on someone's signature...)
"Doesn't Bacardi have alcohol in it?"
"...and you, my darling, are a chump." (Movie quote... but Jean Simmons was the best Sarah ever!! Hooray!!)

Oh!
And, "You looking for some action?" (although that may sound a little wrong)
"...It's the oldest established permanent floating crap game in New York..."
"The boys are slightly fatigued from weariness."
"Am I right-handed or left-handed?"

"this would be a great way to get children to drink more milk" (although out of context it's not so funny)
"Sugar is sweet and so is jelly, so put this belt around your belly"
"Nathan is down with a rare tropical aunt!"
"Adelaide! Pie Face!" (I just think that's the funniest pet name ever)
"I will bet you the same wager, you do not know the colour of the tie you are currently wearing...
No bet...
Blue! What a crazy colour!" That one's kinda long
