We ended with everyone in the cast acknowledging the orchestra, then the Fiddler, who is on the roof at this time.

I think that was everyone...

Why did Shaindel get to be in a group?

The all-important gossiping woman has more lines than her, anyway.

If I had to guess I'd say it's because although Shaindel dosen't do much of anything, she's still a "character" in the sense that she has a relationship with Motel whereas the Gossiping Woman is just there to advance the plot and allow the other characters time to make a quick change. (No offense.)

I know, I just have to get my diva out somewhere.

(And actually, we're the ones who have to be onstage in a different costume about 30 seconds after the dream is over.)

The change is for the wedding, right? (I haven't been in Fiddler since last November  .)

Either way, that change was always KILLER. Especially for me...For some reason I was in the scene right before the wedding, supposedly "picking up fabric" from Motel or something. So after I calmly walked off stage with a smile on my face and swatches of fabric in my hands, I'd basically sprint back to the dressing rooms to change into my bottle dancing outfit in less than a minute. The bottle dancers were the only ones who had to change for the wedding, but for some reason the director didn't put someone else in the scene right before it. I quickly learned that I had to layer my clothes if I wanted to make that change, or put on a new pair of pants here and there, etc.. Ugh.

It goes Dream -> Street/Motel's Shop -> Wedding.

I don't know what the Street-Wedding costumes will be, but I know there is definate quick changing for the people in the Street, becuase we only have Teyve and Golde's little reprise to get out of our dream-wear.

Shandel is Motel's mother, played by Stella Courtney in the movie. Both she and Golde led Tzeitel into place under the canopy beside Motel. Her only dialog: When Motel was about to dance with Tzeitel, Shandel called his name in a shocked tone. Motel ignored her; clearly emboldened by Perchik and Hodel, then Tevye and Golde dancing together, he charged ahead.
