Ira Gershwin and Guy Bolton were rewriting GIRL CRAZY as late as 1978, as that is the version of the script that I read, licensed from TAMS-WITMARK about 10 years ago. It had a bunch of interpolations, including the song "Strike Up the Band" as a mayoral campaign song.
This may have been the last project Ira actually worked on, other than preserving his and George's papers and comments on the Secaucus lode of 1982.
