I'm auditioning for a production of this show in two weeks, and they're asking for two musical theatre tunes ( one up tempo and one ballad) from the period of the show- preferably Gershwin ( or Cole Porter) I kinda have an idea for my uptempo song, but am having a little bit of a problem with the ballad.
I'm a soprano/mezzo, and I am aiming for either Polly or Tess, so I'd like something that shows off my voice.
I was thinking about "someone to watch over me" but I'm not sure if something from the show is appropriate?
Any feedback or suggestions?

How about "You Are My Lucky Star" from Singin in the Rain as a ballad?
I wouldn't go for a song from the show, I think directors would like to see how well the actors choose other songs or something like that. btw I love CFY, Polly is a dream role of mine. haha. I hope you get in, it's an amazing show.
