Does anyone know what the Samuel French license for Chess says pertaining to cuts and additions? I'm guessing they are strict, but I just want an idea about what it states before my college pursues it.

Re: Samuel French License
You get their standard line about "no changes can be made without permission, etc etc" - it's on every license. However, experience has shown that they are especially lenient when it comes to Chess, as long as you're using the US version as your core and don't try and do the London show.

CHESS Licensing
To my knowledge, Chess comes with a note from Tim Rice that allows the directors to shift scenes, shorten numbers and so on. Naturally, material cannot be rewritten, but there is more freedom than with most other musicals.
