Post Danish Chess Production 2001 / 2002
Hi All,

I've been trying to find out some info about the Danish production of Chess that was directed by Craig Revel-Horwood. I can't find anything on the net other than details about the CD.

Does anybody know anything about what the production was like, any pics of the set etc?

Any info most welcome.

Thanks all.

I have been similarly unsuccessful in finding anything about the production itself. No clips on youtube, no production stills, bleh. So, I share your frustration.

Considering that the show was effectively the London version, I'd imagine there were stylistic similarities. But as to whether the expansive set design and technological aspects conceived by Bennet for the London production were utilized, I can't say. I'd imagine the individuals on this board who are far more knowledgeable than myself would have some insight.

I remember seeing a site with a good array of photos back when the Danish concert was first staged, but I googled the heck out of it and they don't seem to be current. The Danish production was a staged concert, and didn't have anything to do with the London show visually. It tended toward the "glitzy" side of things in all the shots I can remember.

Wow, was it?

That's interesting; I'm surprised they produced a studio recording of a "concert" version. I mean, the only recording of 2008's Chess in Concert is a live one. I know they're expensive to accomplish, though.

Ohh, if only they had done a studio version of the Chess in Concert. Maybe the engineers could have made Menzel sound less dreadful.

Or Josh Groban! He was the worst part of it, Menzel did at least act her way out of some mistakes.

From a Zubin Varla fan site. It was a fully staged production/tour...not a concert.

Goodness. Varla looks so much like the father of an ex-girlfriend in those shots.

I kinda dig the overall aesthetic. What's with Rossen's hair?
