I'm not much of a fan of Paige, but by comparison, she hits it out of the park.

If you get a chance, check out Helen Sjöholm's performance on the Stockholm album/video -- that woman is a revelation.

As for anything regarding a film version, I've been giving this a lot of thought for years, and really, a completely new version would have to be constructed. The concept album's a good place to start as far as a running order of the songs, but a lot of that material would need to be trimmed to allow for better pacing, and a good chunk of the "Opening Ceremony" would definitely need to make that sacrifice. It's a four-song sequence where the story just flat-out grinds to a halt before it's even really begun.

Alright, I'd seriously better stop before I go too far OT here...

Paige is not just as bad as I do not cringe when listening to Florence Quits like I do when Idina does it.

I don't reaally get this eternal praise of Kuhn. In the youtube clips I've seen of her, she looks completely void of emotion. How can she be so great?

No one (that I've heard) is worse than Idina Menzel - not Elaine Paige, not Karin Glenmark, not anyone else.

Have you never listened to the OBC? It's probably Kuhn's best performance of the material, her "Nobody's Side" and "Someone Else's Story" are particularly noteworthy. Aside from Helen Sjöholm's performance, which was in Swedish, Kuhn's is the only Florence I still find really enjoyable. I've just gotten too picky about Florences to listen to Paige, Glenmark (ugh!), Kershaw or Menzel for anything but reference purposes.

I just listen to it now and then, because of the aborted material. Perhaps I should pay more attention to it.

From other Kuhn performances I'm also baffled by her ability to sound involved while being a complete master in not transferring that involvement to facial expression.

All I have on file is the Concept Album - and I wanted to hear Rutger Gunnarson kickin' that shit up after the rather pedestrian bass playing in the concert.

Umm - make that WOEFUL bass playing...
