I wonder who they are going to get for Conrad and Kim...

Let's just hope they won't be cast through a TV show! :?

I just got done watching an interview with John Stamos, and he said that he was doing the revival (that's where I first heard about it). He didn't say who he was playing, but I'm guessing Conrad?

Yes, he is. He woulda been great in his Full House days, maybe. Perhaps it'll bring a new twist, but why would they draft a geaser?

Not to mention the ice house scene between Kim and Conrad would be a lot creepier.

Just to clarify, he didn't say that he was playing Conrad. I was just speculating.

As far as age goes, yeah it would be a little creepy, but if you remember, Marc Kudisch did the role in the movie, and he would have been 39/40. John is 45/46. Also, to clarify even further, he made this admission during a red carpet event for the ER finale, and he appears to be quite intoxicated. Maybe he simply meant that the last time he was on Broadway a vendor stopped him on the street and said "Buy? Buy?" and when John said no, the vendor flipped him the Birdie? :-P

So I'm guessing that we're thinking he's going to play Albert?

Post BYE BYE BIRDIE Revival Cast
So the cast has been announced. From the article at Playbill:

Kenneth Jones wrote:
TV, Broadway and pop star (John) Stamos will play manager-songwriter Albert Peterson; film and Broadway actress (Gina) Gershon will be Albert's long-suffering girlfriend, Rose Alvarez; Tony Award winner (Bill) Irwin will be suburban dad Harry MacAfee; and Wicked veteran Jayne Houdyshell (acclaimed for her work in Well on and off Broadway) will be Albert's guilt-inflicting mother, Mae Peterson. Casting for the roles of star-struck teen Kim MacAfee and the Elvis-like, hip-swiveling Conrad Birdie will be announced at a later date, as will additional creative members and citizens of Sweet Apple, OH.

Thoughts?

Later days
David

Steve Carell would be a great Mr. MacAfee, but it's highly unlikely. :(

Apparently Matt Doyle will be playing Hugo Peabody..seems kind of odd since Hugo is not a singing role. But I'm sure he would do a good job with it.

I wonder who they are going to get for Conrad and Kim...

I heard they held an open casting call for most of the teen roles, and likely Conrad too.

I also heard that about Matt Doyle playing Hugo. He does have a fantastic voice, but I seem to to recall him saying somewhere that he doesn't want to spend his entire career in music theatre, so he's probably going to be really focusing on acting now.

According to Allie Trim's (13) facebook, she'll be playing Kim. Could be true, could be just talk...

it is true!
but its so weird. doyle and trimm are way apart in age.
I love Matt Doyle's voice though!

But seriously what a surprise... they cast all known names.
the open call for that show had over 8 hours worth of auditioners.
and not one unknown???
dumb.
