I thought it was Rita Moreno at first glance.
But yeah, she would have been perfect. *sigh*

What I think is retarted is that in the play, Rosie is from Spanish decent (like when she sings that one song..."Spanish Rose", I think it's called), but in the movie, they scrapped that. What was the point of that? Did they think Spanish people would be offended or something?

The title of this thread is worse than anything in the movie.

(If you don't understand what I'm saying, check out www.thinkb4youspeak.com and see if that helps.)

Initially I thought the movie was amazing and then I changed my mind when
1. Chita Rivera was originally Rosie and she wasn't in the movie
2. Ann Margret pretty much just played herself
3. Dick Van Dyke didn't dance very much

I just really hated the whole film. Ann-Margret to me is like nails on a chalkboard.

Much too bad he wasn't around to act in the ACCURATE 1993 version (although whoever they had do him was a good fit).

I, when I did Mr. Mac, WITHOUT fail, got compared to him. Heck, the old folks kept coming up to me after the show and telling me how much i sucked compared to him (and I can't disagree, except none of them had ever seen him on Broadway), except for this one man, who said he was a good friend of Mr. Lynde, and that he had seen the musical every day, at least once, for the whole time he was on Broadway with it. Said to me "Sonny, you ought to be proud of yourself for doing a damn good job. If Paul were here, he'd shake your hand, and then tell you that you did a better job then he did.". He asked his name, (which I won't give out for privacy reasons), and I looked him up, and it was true. :)
