Van Dyke will be reprising his Mr. Dawes role from the film; the character is not in the stage version, but will be written in.
Thoughts?

Here comes the most dreadful cockney accent the world has ever seen :P

I'm surprised he's still young enough to attempt pulling it off, to be honest.

Very interesting. Having seen the show a couple weeks ago, I was a bit disappointed they didn't include that character and that song. It was one of my favorite scenes in the film when I was a kid and it would've been awesome seeing him reprise the role onstage many years later, sans the old-age make-up!!

At least he admits it! (extras on the Mary Poppins DVD)

I would love to see him do that role, and although I didn't miss it in the stage musical, I don't think I would mind seeing it.

One question, though: the show is already 3 hours long... Are they going to cut something else (songs, roles) to make room for Mr. Dawes?
