 Special Effects on Broadway... Can lead to a cancelled show!

This happened with Les Miz many years ago. The barricade broke down on opening night in Manchester, and it had come from the Los Angeles production...where it had broken down on opening night there, too.

I don't think so. I think it was just delayed, but I can't remember for sure. I read about it in an interview with Meredith Braun in The Barricade, which are somewhere in the garage at my parents' house.

I believe it's like the castle in Beauty.
Because the set is gigantic, it can prolly move backwards and forwards and all around to help with scene changes. During Beauty, I could see the stage during the blackouts. When, for example, it went from the castle to the tavern, the castle would roll backwards and a backdrop would fall in front of it.
I'm assuming that's what they're doing with the Banks' residence, but I'm not sure. That's my guess, though.

Certainly in London, and I believe in New York, the house is made of 3 separate pieces - one comes from each wing, and one from upstage; they lock together and move downstage as one piece, then the two-piece roof (the actual roof and the nursery/attic) flies in and sits on top of it.
