..and not one for Ave Q or Dirty Rotten Scoundrels?? the two above mentioned hsaows are surefire hits and artistic successes. yet we have a forum for a slaugterd version of the disney film, plus forums for less than great shows like Wicked.

No, I'm serious. alot better shows still dont have forums. and the stage version of Mary Poppins cuts the 4 best songs in the film. not to mention added new ones not even written by the Sherman Brothers.

Have you seen Mary Poppins live in London?

What were these 4 "fantastic" songs that arn't in the stage show anyway?

And Stiles and Drew did a better job with the new songs than the Sherman Brothers could have ever done ;)

I don't think shows deserve their own forum because they are "better" artistically. Only if they are popular. Wicked's has more than proved its worthiness as a stand-alone forum. I think there has to be some sort of demonstrated groundswell of interest in discussing a show to justify its own forum.

That said, even now, I think some forums could be trimmed because of lack of interest. I like Avenue Q, but I don't get much sense yet that there is much to talk about although I for one am interested. Maybe the Broadway Buzz section should be organized more like the Across the Boards section with subforums. Although some like Wicked,CATS, and Phantom could justify their own forum instead of a sub-forum.

If you mean having the Sherman Brothers write today (are they still alive?), sure. But their original set is hard to top.

Good character development song.

Sister Surragate

Good song, and does some character development for Mrs. Banks but not crucial.

Quote:
I Love To Laugh

Nice song, never could understand the importance of it to the plot. A mild show-stopper perhaps.

Quote:
The Bank Song

Clever tune, very much a part of the plot.

I agree although not in such colorful terms. 8O

They were both alive when they wrote the new score for the stage version of Chitty.
